Type Locality and Naming

Includes in SE Murghab district (Istyk type Dunkeldyk area)

Lithology and Thickness

It is made of dark well-bedded clayey limestones in Dunkeldyk area, Kuntei area.

It is composed, as everywhere, of dark clayey limestones with nodules of chert in Kokchagin area.

Lower contact

Schematic stratigraphic column indicates this as the lowest formation in Dunkeldyk area, Kuntei area, and Kokchagin area.

It is widespread in the Southeast Pamir in the Istyk type Dunkeldyk area.

Fossils

At the bottom, it is Upper Bajocian-Bathonian, at the top (100 - 150 m) - Lower, Middle Callovian with remains of early, middle Callovian ammonites of the genus Hecticoceras and others in Dunkeldyk area.

At the bottom remains of Middle Jurassic fauna, and at the top (50-100 m) early Kimmeridgian ammonites - Macrocephalites sp. in Kuntei area.

At the bottom, it includes Late Bajocian-Bathonian remains of fauna, previously listed, at the top (100 - 200 m) early and Middle Kimmeridgian ammonites: Macrocephalites sp., Indosphinctes urbanus Spath, I. rusticus Spath, Phlycticeras pustulatus Rein., Reineckeia ravana Spath, R. reissi Stein, Hecticoceras sp. in Kokchagin area.
